Kewalo Harbor

Kewalo Harbor has been significant to the Ward neighborhood for centuries. The area was once known as the fishery of Kukuluae‘o, and in 1913 was sold by the Victoria Ward family to the territory of Hawai‘i. Today, The Howard Hughes Corporation serves as operator and manager of Kewalo Harbor, which, in part, returns the stewardship of the fishery of Kukulae‘o to the Ward neighborhood. The harbor sits directly makai of Ward Village, a new, integrated community that offers unique retail experiences and residences set among public open spaces and walkable streets.

In its role as operator and manager of Kewalo Harbor, The Howard Hughes Corporation is providing facility upgrades, including increased security and dock renovations, as well as extended marketing support to further encourage foot traffic to the harbor and interaction within the Ward Village community. The Howard Hughes Corporation seeks to benefit the businesses located at the harbor while creating a usable waterfront amenity, making it an even better ocean destination and urban fishing village for the community, truly connecting Ward Village from mauka to makai.
